About Us
In 1974, my Grandpa Wallace Bertram and Uncle Dick Myers purchased a welding company in Union City, Indiana, and changed the name to B&M Steel. Their first customer was right across the street at Union City Mold. In the following years, B&M Steel grew from a local provider of steel fabrication services to a national supplier – in more industries and with more services.
In 1985, ownership of the company passed to my dad, Steve Rader, and in 2016 to me. I take pride in being the third generation of family ownership of B&M Steel, and my aim is to treat our clients like family too.
At B&M Steel, you have a highly experienced partner for whatever projects you require. I am an NCCCO Certified Crane Operator and all shop employees have completed the OSHA 30-hour course and ANSI/AWS D1.1 certification.
That's some background on us. Now what can we get done for you?

Our People
Todd Rader
Married since 2017 with one dog-ter and a feathery offspring. He enjoys watching Indiana sports teams, Spartan races, and traveling the globe with family when opportunities arise. He started by sweeping the B&M floors on the weekends in high school. He spent three years in the US Army. Later, he learned that he excelled at different sales and management positions. While attending Ivy Tech for a business degree, he came back to work for the family business full-time in 2005. He spent 11+ years learning the trade from his father Steve in the shop and in the field. Has managed crews for projects including installations of new construction and rebuilds/shutdowns. Previously he has held an NCCCO crane operator certification. On the job training allowed him to take over in June of 2016, transitioning into the role of the president.
Amanda
She’s a born and raised Buckeye and has been doing bookkeeping since she was 16 yrs old. Over the years she’s been a diligent worker having multiple employers simultaneously. She’s been married since 2002 and has two children and four fur babies. She joined B&M in 2014 part-time, but her added value to the team was quickly noticed and didn’t take long for her to join us full-time. Amanda is a treasured team member dealing with all customer and vendor accounts as well as handling portions of RFQ’s.
Tig
Tig showed up at B&M near the end of 2017, pleading from outside to allow him to come in and prove himself as a valuable addition. His main tasks are to greet vendors and customers daily, check the Cintas rugs for quality, and be a live paperweight (sometimes even when not needed). Luckily for us, his income is room and board. If not for the deal on his salary B&M may not be able to afford him. His work ethic is uncanny as he can be found at the shop 24/7.
Chad Dunkle
Chad started his post-high school career at B&M Steel where he worked for 5 years. 25 years later, he's finishing where he started. Since 2023, Chad has been a huge help to B&M Steel's growth. He's found new team members along with running the shop and selling our services. Chad and his wife Nicol have 2 dogs, Sadie and Cooper. He has coached baseball for 20 years and is an avid hunter and fisherman. If you ask his friends, they may say he's too good at both! He has an abundance of fabrication and mechanical skills. If he doesn't already know how something operates, it won't take him very long to figure it out.
